Early Work (2012 - 2021)

I’ve selected early works that are from the first decade of my practice, shown between 2012 and 2021. My first body of work The View of The Free People, 2012 was shown at cafes, bars and the University of Newcastle student gallery, Watt Space. My influences were broad and the result was a mix of oil portraits, ink landscapes and photographs together in a salon hang.

From 2013- 2018 the work shifted to an interest in my surroundings. While in Sydney I created Nosey Bob works and urban beach landscapes, which were shown at Bondi Pavilion. I went on trips to the desert, did a residency in Byron Bay and explored Asia, the later influencing Ideals, shown at Sheffer Gallery and The New Standard.

Relocating to the Mid-North Coast influenced a new journey, Utopian Dialogue was shown at Kunstervein at the end of 2018 and involved my lifestyle, surroundings and feeling. I responded to the catastrophic bushfire season of 2019 in works Noah’s Ark and Extinction before moving to painting lone figure in the landscape works.
